The Milton Keynes Soapbox Derby 2019 was created in partnership with Milton Keynes Council, Ringway, MK21 and MyMiltonKeynes.
Teams raced down Midsummer Boulevard/Saxon Gate in Central Milton Keynes. The derby was split into three thrilling races, down a 200m course filled with challenging obstacles, a Junior, Adult and Business & Company Races.
Spectators were welcome to come for a day filled with racing, music and summer delights!
Our partner for the 2019 Soapbox Derby was MyMiltonKeynes, a business-funded partnership that gives businesses within the Central Milton Keynes area the power to get together, decide what improvements they want to make in their city centre and how they will be managed. See more about who they are and the positive impact they have on Milton Keynes
What are you judged on?
There are three prizes up for gabs per race. One for speed, one for creativity, and one for showmanship, all against the other contestants in your category. There will then be one overall winner for each category, who has shown a stunning performance in speed, creativity AND showmanship- the creme de la creme of soapbox racing.
Simply, how fast you can make it down the track and across the finish line (with your soapbox in one piece, of course).
Make your creation as whacky as possible. We want to see the deepest darkest corners of your creative brains, anything goes as long as it goes!
Traditionally before the start of a soapbox derby run, the team will put on a 20 second show for the crowd. A chance to add a little more personality and uniquness.

Milton Keynes Hospital Charity
Milton Keynes Hospital Charity (MKHC) raises money for Milton Keynes University Hospital. Their fundraising improves patient experience, by ensuring that their stay at the hospital is as comfortable as possible.
So far it has enabled wards and departments to purchase vital equipment such as a teaching skeleton for the chronic pain team. While also helping to bring brightness to the wards with bright and calming artwork.
All this could not be achieved without the amazing support of people in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. This fundraising makes a huge difference and creates change in thousands of patients and their families lives.
